Leadership Development
Leaders create the conditions for innovation through the process they use, the climate they build, and the way they engage with the different thinkers on their team. This program enables them to do all three deliberately, and with structure.
Tailored to Your Organization
Every Leadership Development engagement is designed around your organization's context — not a fixed curriculum. We work with you to determine the right structure, timeline, and delivery format based on your goals, team size, and existing innovation initiatives.
Engagements are available virtually, in-person, or in a hybrid format across multiple sessions. We'll discuss the right approach during your planning conversation.
What shapes the design:
- Your participants — roles, experience levels, and influence in the organization
- Your challenges — real problems that become the substrate for learning and practice
- Your timeline — intensive or extended, depending on capacity and urgency
- Your goals — facilitating problem-solving sessions, building a climate change plan, or both
How we design these engagements
Leadership Development at Renaissance Teams is not a course you enroll in. We work with your organization to design a multi-session program tailored to your goals, timeline, and team. The program is built on four modes of learning: instruction, practice, collaboration, and reflection.
Learn
Master Creative Problem Solving methodology, understand thinking style differences, and learn climate diagnosis through expert instruction and real-world application.
Practice
Apply new skills to real organizational challenges. Facilitate sessions, design interventions, and build fluency through doing.
Collaborate
Share work with peers, receive feedback, and build understanding through discussion with qualified facilitators and fellow participants.
Reflect
Connect content to your specific work context. Deepen self-awareness about your thinking style, facilitation instincts, and how your leadership shapes your team's climate.
Learn
Master Creative Problem Solving methodology, understand thinking style differences, and learn climate diagnosis through expert instruction and real-world application.
Practice
Apply new skills to real organizational challenges. Facilitate sessions, design interventions, and build confidence through repeated practice.
Collaborate
Share work with peers, receive feedback, and build understanding through discussion with qualified facilitators and fellow participants.
Reflect
Make connections from content to your specific work context. Deepen self-awareness about your thinking processes and how to strengthen your impact.
Four areas of innovation leadership
Each area addresses a different dimension of what it takes to lead organizations that innovate consistently.
Thinking Styles & Cognitive Diversity
Understand your personal thinking and creative problem solving style through research-validated assessments. Learn to recognize how others approach problems differently, and how to structure collaboration that makes those differences productive rather than friction-producing.
Participant Outcome: The ability to recognize thinking style differences and work with them intentionally, rather than assuming everyone approaches problems the same way.
Creative Problem Solving Facilitation
Master the four CPS stages with specific tools and techniques. Learn when to use divergent versus convergent thinking, how to manage group energy and dynamics, and how to adapt the process when a group gets stuck.
Participant Outcome: The ability to guide their teams through innovation challenges using CPS methodology, building fluency that grows with experience.
Climate Diagnosis & Improvement
Learn the nine climate dimensions that enable or inhibit innovation. Develop skills to recognize climate signals, understand the link between leadership behavior and environment, and design targeted action to address emerging challenges that are getting in the way.
Participant Outcome: The ability to recognize when climate is helping or hindering innovation and the confidence to act on it.
Strategic Integration
Understand how thinking styles, process, and climate interact to produce innovation outcomes over time. Learn how to build and sustain the conditions for creative work at an organizational level.
Participant Outcome: A strategic view of innovation capacity: how it's built, what erodes it, and what leaders can do to protect it.
A foundation in self awareness
We will ask participants to complete assessments that reveal different aspects of thinking style and problem-solving preferences. Including these within leadership development enables us to address real organizational challenges as part of the curriculum, rather than relying on case studies.

Assessment of Problem-Solving Style
Measures how people prefer to approach change, generate solutions, and work with others. Reveals orientation toward exploration versus development, internal versus external processing, and people-centered versus task-centered decision making.
Kai
Kirton Adaptation-Innovation Inventory
Assesses where you fall on a continuum from adaptor to innovator. Adaptors prefer working within existing structures to refine and improve. Innovators prefer challenging structures to find new approaches. Neither is better, but unrecognized differences create real friction.
Foursight
Thinking Profile
Identifies which phases of the creative process energize you: Clarifying problems, Ideating solutions, Developing concepts, or Implementing plans. Most people have strong preferences for some phases and lower energy for others. Understanding this changes how teams collaborate.

Situational Outlook Questionnaire
Measures organizational climate across the nine dimensions that support or inhibit creative work. Builds leaders' understanding of how the climate they create affects the people around them.
